Email received from Janice Parry in May 2010 regarding her Yearling's showing success

I don't know if you would be interested but I have a Welsh Part Bred/Riding Pony yearling called Talponciau Cameo who has been fed Outshine since being weaned and prepared for sale last year, and since for showing. Every time she has been out she has been First and Champion, including the Welsh National Foal Show, the Anglesey Winter Fair and the Royal Welsh Winter Fair 2009 . She won 7 out of 7 first prizes and 7 Championships at every show!  This year she has been out three times, gaining 3 first prizes, 3 Youngstock Championships and 3 overall Championships and 1 2nd Reserve Champion.

She has a daily diet of Baileys Outshine, No.17 Top Line Conditioning Mix and Stud Balancer. I tend to give my horses a high fibre diet as we have Thoroughbreds, Welsh and Riding ponies and temperament is a priority. I hope to achieve a Royal Welsh win with Cameo this year to add to her Royal Welsh Winter Fair Championship. It would really be fantastic and I put all her success to date down to Baileys Feeds.

Email received from Melanie Firth from Suffolk she has sent us some of her excellent Showing results with her two young in hand ponies, both fed on Baileys, we look forward to see how they get on in 2010.......

My name is Melanie Firth and I have a twin sister Kathryn, we both live in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
We used to show ponies as children but have now been out of horses for the past 20 years.
Last spring we decided to go back into horses but with limited funds could not afford top class ridden ponies. Constantly searching Horsequest, Kathryn came across a foal for sale from the Romanno Stud. Romanno Romany Gypsy, a chestnut filly - she was stunning We decided to fly up to see her. Whilst there we looked at Romanno Talk Talk, a bay colt and decided to purchase both of them. We took delivery of them in August 08.
Romanno Talk Talk
Having been a big fan of Baileys for condition from our previous experience and needing the condition over the winter, we introduced them both onto Baileys top line which we have continued to use all last summer. We also used Outshine during the showing season.Having won a Baileys feed voucher in early September, together with your detailed product list, we started to feed Baileys No.7 Stud Mix. This seemed to put a spurt on in their growth. They have been doing really well on it ever since. Gypsy won everything last year, considering we have just returned to horses and have never had young stock. She notched up a total of 15 championships,12 reserve championships, 4 Supreme and 2 Reserve Supreme Championships to include:-Suffolk County Show - Champion Show Hunter Pony young stock judged by Jermome Harforth, Stanley Grange Stud. He raved about her and contacted her breeder following this. NPS areas 14, 15 and 16 she won various championships having qualified for NPS Champs and Ponies UK numerous times. NPS Champs - Champion Home Produced Show Hunter Pony, again judged by Jerome Harforth. Ponies UK Summer Champs - Reserve Hunter Pony Champion, Reserve Lee Smith Cedarwood Sports/Competition Pony Champion, Champion Home Produced Hunter Pony Young stock and Rosevean Supreme Yearling Champion. The Champion of the Rosevean went on to win the Cuddy ticket for HOYS, produced by the Stanley Grange Stud.
Romanno Romany Gypsy
Our other yearling Romanno Talk Talk (Waffle) has taken his time to come on. He was gelded in December 08 but needed work on his top line. We are not like the producers in taking other steps such as strapping and side reins to build muscle, we have totally allowed him to take his time through feed alone. Nearly always up against Gypsy in the show ring, he only managed to beat her on 4 occasions. He also qualified for NPS and Ponies UK. In total he won 1 Championship in the summer. His neck is really starting to muscle up and at the two last winter shows we have done, he beat Gypsy on both occasions winning a Championship, Res Championship and Reserve Supreme Championship.
Both were nominated at NPS Champs as 'Fit for Future' this was judged on condition in the ring. They went for a physical examination and were weighed and both scored highly to qualify them for the Championship. Our ultimate aim is to qualify them for the Cuddy at HOYS. However we are home produced and it is difficult to compete against the top producers for this, on name alone.

We are very much looking forward to next year. Both are in excellent condition part way through the winter and shaping up nicely for next year. They are top quality youngsters with a good diet backing them. We are always asked by fellow competitors and even judges what we feed due to their fantastic condition.

Email recieved from Gerry Dunne from Grovely Riding Centre regarding his sons success at HOYS in the Grade C Championship.....

Wylye Cruise ridden by Danny Dunne of Grovely Riding Centre had a very successful year as a 6 year old qualifying for HOYS, but as a 7 year old he completely lost form and condition. After seeking advice from a Baileys Nutritionist her diet was changed to Baileys No.9 All-Round Competition Mix fed over four feeds. Cruise Windsucks and is quite a fussy feeder and obviously her concentrate ration is paramount to performance. In July 2009 she won the Grade C qualifier at the South of England Show and has gone on to jump Area Trials having a fantastic season. Her year culminated in a credible 2nd in the Grade C Championship at HOYS beaten by the last horse in the ten horse jump off. Many thanks to Baileys who have shown a continued interest and enthusiasm and are always on hand to give much appreciated advice.

Email received from Kirsty Millard regarding the success of her young Show Hunter Pony, Stambrook Love In The Mist......

We feed Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes and Stud Balancer to our fantastic young SHP, Stambrook Love In The Mist. Mia looks incredible, she even took the Supreme In hand championship at the Amateur Showing Society Show.  We know she gets all the vital vitamins and minerals she needs to support all her needs, especially vital in sustaining correct growth. Thank you Baileys.  Kirsty Millard from KLM Sports Horses.

Email received from Margaret Proudlove from Cheshire, her pony, Tuscan Challenge suffered with Laminitis, but has gone on to have much success in the Show Ring......

Tuscan Challenge or Boris to his many Jockeys, has been part of our family for 11 years, a much loved pony with attitude and charisma. Unfortunately he suffered the dreaded Laminitis, but thanks to the expert treatment and care at the Ashbrook Veterinary Centre, Boris made a full recovery, he consequently lost his Show Ring bloom and I was worried that we would no longer be able to show him. After getting in contact with local Baileys Feed Advisor, Caroline Dickens, she advised we feed him on Baileys No.14 Lo-Cal Balancer and to slowly introduce Baileys Outshine to his diet, results speak for themselves winning many Lead Rein Showing and  First Ridden Championships. At now 16 years old as you can see from the photo he is in peak condition!

Email received from Amanda Caddick about her pony, Sovereign who is still going strong at 38 years old....

I just wanted to thank you for the advice given on feeding my 36 year old mare 'Sovereign Lady' in August of this year.  Sovereign now is looking fab for her age and is still putting weight on as I type!

I fed her the Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes but even though it helped she wasn't putting enough condition on for the winter so I started adding Baileys No. 1 Cooked Cereal Meal.  Within a couple of weeks she was filling out nicely!  She has been on it now for two months and now looks a much happier healthier pony.  She is still in work and finished the showing season in October with a qualification to the Royal London Show, 3 x 3rds and one 5th in the veteran showing classes at our local RC shows.  I put our succeses down entirely to her new Baileys diet and happily tell everyone what a difference it has made to her.

Thank you once again and I look forward to next years shows with high hopes!!!

Email received from Jane Howard regarding the transformation of her pony 'Ticket' after giving her pony Baileys Outshine.....

I just thought I would write to say thanks for the difference that your product Outshine has made to my pony.

Ticket has suffered from laminitis in the past quite severely I think due to insulin resistance /metabolic problems and over the past two and a half years I have been trying to help him by following the Jamie Jackson 'Founder Prevention and Cure the Natural Way' book method. So we have gone barefoot and changed his lifestyle completely. It was amazing how quickly he started to recover once we changed the way he lived and ate. He has progressed really well managing a few pleasure rides last summer with Scottish Endurance Riding Club and this year set out to complete a ride in every SERC branch to achieve our Gold Pleasure award - which we finally completed last week in a damp and rainy Argyll.

Fairly early in the year being out at a lot of rides and with his restricted diet - lives in dry lot with ad-lid damp hay and fed speedibeet and vitamins - He was losing weight with the extra exercise - I had to get a new saddle as his existing Free N' Easy saddle could not be adjusted to fit any narrower!  I was worried about what I could safely feed him to give him higher protein without the starch which I am pretty sure from previous unsuccessful feed experimentation was a trigger for further laminitic attacks. I called the Baileys nutrition helpline and explained my problem asking if they felt Outshine would be right to help us. The lady reassured me that it was, but to add very slowly to make sure not to upset digestive system. The girls at the yard were laughing at me with my scales and tiny chopped down plastic bottle scoop as I carefully measured a few grammes per day to begin with.  After a couple of weeks and no ill effects I gradually built up the amount. Still ok - although no visible change I felt Ticket was much brighter in himself and had more energy. Weight loss in conjunction to running out of steam were what had led me to seek an additional feed source.

After a couple of months I felt he was really getting the most out of it feeding up to 800 grammes per day (in four feeds - very high maintenance this boy!) He filled back out and was full of energy with no problems in the feet department thank goodness. In fact in the last few rides we went to in October/November we were having over enthusiasm issues with a pony that just wanted to go!  He's now on his holidays so I have cut back his Outshine to 200 grammes a day just to make sure he's getting some of those essential vitamins/minerals and amino acids.

Thanks for a great product that really does what it claims to do.

Email received from Hannah Shardlow on the transformation of her horse, Nero....

Well, I just thought I would get in touch to say that you have changed my horses life. When I bought him he was underweight, had a skin condition, he had no muscle and he looked like a badly formed foal/rescue horse. He had an extremely timid personality and would cower in the stable and would show the whites of his eyes if you made any sound or movement towards him. I was so worried about him at the start - wondering 'what had I bought' and would he be OK. After lots of love, tlc and some of your amazing Top Line Conditioning Cubes he is now the prettiest, happiest, monky ever.

He loves people, he is cheeky, and he is growing in confidence every day. He has now gone off to be an eventer with my brother and did his first 'proper' dressage test the other day. We are all so pleased to see him shine and as you can see from the picture he has to be one of the shiniest horses I have ever seen. No skin condition in site! Your Conditioning cubes are fantastic and I am recommending them to all my friends and family. I wish you all the best and keep producing great feeds! (attached is a before and after photo so you can see the difference)

Emma Shardlow & Nero (now the shiniest, happy horse!)

Email from Hannah Alecock regarding the transformation of her horse after feeding Baileys No.4  Top Line Conditioning Cubes!

I thought I would just thank you for providing such great feeds! I rescued my 15.2hh Tb x mare nearly four years ago; although she wasn't the worst looking horse in the world, she had been neglected and was not in the best of ways. Within weeks she was improving and looked a completely different horse but, having to reschool her and gain weight and condition was so challenging because she was so 'hot headed'.

I feel like I've honestly tried every calming and conditioning food out there and nothing has ever given her that WOW factor. It was about this time last year I was looking for a food to change to for the winter, intead of just pasture cubes (which she had in the summer).  I saw an advert for your Top Line Conditioning Cubes and I was reading that it said non heating etc.  I thought, "Yes, I've heard that before!"

Well, I had nothing to lose so I thought I would give them a go. I can honestly say they are the BEST food in the world! Chloe is now 16 and has never looked better. Her behaviour has changed alot to! Wherever I go I always get people saying to me "Doesn't Chloe look well?" and "What do you feed her?", because she now really stands out from the crowd and looks so healthy! So a HUGE thank you to all of you; your No. 4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes are brilliant and I have recommended them to everyone!

Email from Sallie Dudley, East Sussex, telling us of her recent show sucess!

Just wanted to let you know that your products continue to do the business for me and my girls!

I took my yearling, Sheer Bliss, to the Futurity at Plumpton College in July - she has been on Baileys Stud Balancer since she was born.  We achieved a 1st Premium for Endurance and a 2nd Premium for Eventing, which really thrilled me.  She has been bred specifically for Endurance, and it still makes me grin when I think about the result.  It is really nice to know that other people think that you've got it right!

I took Bliss's  mother, Pharach Samantha, to the SE Arab Summer Show at Hickstead at the weekend.  She has been on Baileys ever since I got her back in 1998 as a 10 year old.  She is now 21, and we won the Ridden Veteran trophy and came 4th in Small Riding Horse.  Neither of the Judges thought she looked her age, and considering the thousands of competative endurance miles she has on the clock, plus the 3 foals she has bred, at least some of the credit has to go to her nutrionist - so thanks Emma!

I wish I could report some success with Kiwi, Sam's 7 year old daughter.  Unfortunately, she is lame - but she still looks in great condition, well, actually, the vet said she is in 'show condition' but what can you do?  All she gets is 3 mugs of Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer a day and poor grazing - talk about a good doer!

So, thank you - you make the whole thing a lot easier.

Email from Heidi Harris from Nottinghamshire, who is very impressed with how her horses are alll now looking in fantastic condition after feeding Baileys Lo-Cal, without the fizz......

I would just like to say how pleased I am with your Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer. I have three mares on it at the moment and the difference in them is fantastic! The Chestnut in the Picture is an ex-racer, and I have always had problems keeping weight on her and not fizz her up, I decided this summer to try her on Lo-Cal as she also suffers with Azotoria, and my other mares were looking fantastic on it, the diference has been amazing, she is more round and toned and her attitude is very calm and is a dream to ride and with no more attacks of Azotoria! So all I would like to say is Thank you for creating such a great product!

Email from Samantha Osbourne regarding the transformation of her horse Traemarr Seattle after being fed Baileys Outshine..

I am writing to inform you about the success I have had with your products. In December 2008 I purchased a four year old three quarter thoroughbred, one quarter Arab. He had not long been broken, his coat was dull and he had no top line so I decided to put him on to Baileys Outshine alongside a feed balancer.

After only a few weeks I started to notice a change in his appearance with his coat looking shinier. Alongside intensive schooling work and strapping, I have built him up to the ideal show weight he is today. When using other conditioning products in the past, I have found some feeds allow a horse to put on weight but do not contain the levels of oil which I think are essential for a glowing show ring coat. I have also found that other feeds require a high volume of food to be fed to maintain condition, whereas, with Outshine I have only needed to use a few cup fulls to see huge results.

The picture taken in  May 2009 shows my horse winning and qualifying for the Royal London and Equifest Championships at his first ever ridden show as a Large Show Hack. Not only has your product allowed me to put condition on my horse fast but also the product did not fizz him up at all; this was obviously a concern with him being a show animal, 4 years old and a part bred Arab! I am now looking forward to contesting the HOYS, Cherif and Royal London hack and part bred Arab classes!

Update from Samantha-Pictures below of The Royal London Show 2009

E-mail from Ireland based Tracey Carroll regarding her rescued horse Zahara, who was delighted with the transformation Baileys made to her mare.

Zahara before & afterI am writing to give you the biggest compliment I can. Your feed has changed my and the life of my rescued mare. Just over a year ago I saw the saddest sight ever - a two year old  horse starving in a field, close to death. I took all my savings out of the bank and a week later she was dropped off at the yard. She was in such a state that the Vet who looked at her thought she would never be able to be ridden.

I got advice from my local feed shop and started her on your Meadow Sweet with honey as she was reluctant to eat anything other than hay initially. Once she started eating steadily, I changed her onto Top Line Conditioning Cubes to help her slowly gain weight. It was like magic - I have never seen a horse come around so dramatically. I then decided to change to Top Line Conditioning Mix and added a mug of Outshine (it’s like gold dust!) to her feed.

She has perfect movement and a rocket jump so I’m going to start dressage and jumping this summer. She has made a full recovery and now when she walks past, people aren't whispering comments about her being a useless nag because their jaws are on the floor.

She has a coat like a mirror and just bursts with condition. Seeing her dramatic recovery I have been pressed by others as to what I was feeding her and now twelve horses are on Baileys in my yard! It has become the main feed. It really made people stop and think about how they feed their horse and what a difference a good feed can make to the health, mind, feet and coat of a horse. It was the best day for us when the feed shop keeper brought us to the back of the barn and told us he had this new feed he had just tried on his own horses and he though it would be perfect for us!

I have attached some photos for you to see the full impact your feed has had for both of us. She is my first horse and I have broken and trained her myself and put all I could in to her but your feeds made a world of difference to her - so from both of us many, many thanks.

Email from Alexandra Sinton regarding her horse Wildstar Bewes who recently qualified and competed at the Novice Freestyle Dressage Championships at Hartpury College.

I have been feeding Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes to Larry-Wildstar Bewes, for the last 8 months, since winning some Vouchers at the BE Intro Championships last year and speaking to your feed advisors. At the time I had just bought a hot headed, stressy 5 year old with no muscle tone or definition, it was like riding 16.3hh barrel of adrenaline, I had no idea what to feed him.

I was recommended No.4 straight away, and I have to say it does exactly what it says on the packaging! Through the winter he has kept his head, and I've stayed on. he has muscled up and grown into himself properly and he has the most amazing shiny coat and supple skin and to top it off we've qualified for the Freestyle and Novice Restricted Winter Championships, where I came 12th which I am over the moon with!

E-mail from Lisa Penfold, East Sussex, regarding the improvements to her horse Syrus from Baileys Lo-Cal as can be seen from the transformation seen over just 5 months in the photos below.

These are before and after pictures of Syrus.  I aquired him on 21st October 2008 (picture on far left), and on asking your advice on feeding, you recommended Baileys Lo-Cal balancer at a rate of 3 cups a day.  The second picture is the result, and that was taken on 28th February 2009.  His summer coat has come through now as can be seen on the last picture taken on 29th March 2009!  Thank you for your advice and help, I can’t tell you how pleased I am with his progress.  I will continue to feed Lo-Cal to him as I really can see the benefits of it now - thanks again.

Email from Kirsty Haverty from Ireland regarding her Connemara pony and 16 year old mare who are both fed on Baileys...

Gav

Here is a photo of my  Registered Connemara Gav,  fed solely on fabulous Baileys products,
as you can see he is looking very well. He is 7 years old – does dressage, TREC, Riding Club and Showing. He recently competed in the first leg of the Mid West TREC Obstacle and Control of Paces league on 28 February, which he won!

His diet is 1 round scoop Alfalfa Blend, I mug Lo Cal, some sugar beet and lots of Rye Grass Hay. For some extra fizz, an added mug of Endurance does the job.
Ally – my 16 year old mare is as well as ever. She has the same diet and has just completed a 12km Orienteering Ride, where my friend and I came joint first. She does Dressage, TREC and Riding Club – and recently gained her first 2 points with Dressage Ireland , finally we are getting the idea!  As ever, I think Baileys is the best feed on the market – and from the photo,  Gav has no complaints!

Email from Heather Baker from Owl End Highland Ponies regarding her two Highland Stallions- who are both looking fantastic…..

Her are two pictures of my Highland Pony Stallions Moss-Side Orchull Laddie and Moss-Side Pearson, both fed on Baileys Stud Balancer and Baileys Outshine, we are so pleased with what your products have helped us produce!

Moss-Side Laddie is a 4 year old yellow dun, who started his Showing career last October, where he won all his classes and then went on to be Champion of the whole show! Since then he has gone on to qualify for Ponies (
Uk) Winter Championships, which he will compete at in March. He was also featured in Showing World Magazine. Laddie is in the process of being backed, and our aim this year is to qualify him for this years Horse of the Year Show.

Moss-Side Pearson

Moss-Side Pearson is a black 3 year old Colt, who is in the process of being licensed, Pearson is yet to start his Showing career, and will hopefully do some small shows over the next couple of months, aiming for the Royal Highland Show at the End of June.

E-mail from Danielle Perryman, East Sussex, regarding her competition pony.

I am 14 years old and he is 8. He is a dappled palomino 15.3hh, I have only had him for a year and he was quite underweight and didn't have much muscle tone. I have been feeding him Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes and Outshine and he now looks fabulous.

This year we have competed for our Pony Club in Showjumping and Eventing teams with great success (he had only been a happy hacker before I got him from my friend’s Mum)! See how well he looks now competing in our team at our Area Competition!

E-mail from Emma Peel in November 2008, regarding her ex-racehorse Dear John, who has had outstanding success in the show ring this summer.

Just thought I would drop you a line regarding veteran feeding. We have been using your No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes to feed our veteran (ex-racehorse) show horse for a while now and think it is wonderful. We were interviewed for Showing World magazine in July for their feature on Veteran feeding and we added the use of your products in the article.

We have had a very successful year having won the Ridden Championship at the Amateurs Winter show and the Reserve Ridden in the summer, the Supreme In Hand and Reserve Supreme of Show at the VHS Two Day Summer show, then went on to win both the In Hand and the Ridden Veteran Championship at the first Trailblazers Showing Championships. Plus, we were Champion Racehorse at Royal London and then ending the year winning the Veteran Championship and the Supreme of Show at the Chiltern and Thames Rider Summer Championships!

We owe a lot of this, not only to hard work, but to his feeding and the great products available to us, yours being one of them. It gives him the top line he needs without the fizz associated with an ex-racehorse, but enough energy to maintain his stamina in the show ring.

We actually attended the very first seminar organised by the Retraining of Racehorses (ROR - a charity) at the Racing School in Newmarket. we were asked to bring John to be an example of a retrained racehorse. We had a wonderful time. ROR is a great charity and it certainly gives ex-racers a chance on a new career. I hope that John and I will give amateurs hope when getting an ex-racehorse that it can be done with hard work and good feeding. He will be 18 next year and he is still the most exuberant fun horse I have, including my youngsters!

E-mail received from Megan Elizabeth Purtill, Newmarket, October 2008, regarding the improvement to her yearling on Outshine.

I just wanted to send the attatched photo's of a recent yearling prepared for sale (at Tattersalls, Newmarket). I believe it is a great demonstration of your product 'Outshine'. The ‘before’ photo was taken on 5th September and the ‘after’ on 11th October.

It is my pleasure to show you the results, as I was so impressed with the improvement of my yearling in such a short time. Thank you for such a great product which will always have a place in my feed room.

E-mail received October 08 from Sonia Marfleet from Surrey after she had spoken with Emma Case, one of our Nutritionists at head office.

A while ago I spoke to you on the phone about changing my horse’s feed to Baileys and you kindly printed out everything I needed to know about the quantities. I just wanted to say how much my horse loves Baileys and the differences it has made to him.  I use to put sliced apples in to encourage him to eat and now he pushes them out to get to his feed!

Since putting him on No.9 All Round Competition Mix and Outshine he has a lot more oomph. We have since won our first affiliated show jumping competition and the other day won the Small Working Hunter Championship and was Reserve Champion of Champions.
I wish I had put him on it ages ago, the pennies I saved by feeding a cheaper brand wasn't worth it.

E-mail from Patricia Ellison, Manchester

Received September 2008, after a visit from Caroline Dickens, Baileys’ feed advisor for the north west

I just wanted to say a big thank you to your company and to Caroline who came out to give a talk to our livery yard about a month ago. I have always had horses and thought that I knew what, and how much, feed to give. After listening to Caroline I realised that this was not the case. After Caroline had spoken to the group she then looked at each of our horses and advised what feeding regime they might benefit from.

I was a bit sceptical at first as my horse is 21 and I have had him since he was 2, and therefore thought I knew what was best for him. Caroline suggested that he was switched on to Lo Cal Balancer, as she thought he was not getting enough protein in his diet. I duly bought the Lo Cal balancer and within 2 weeks noticed a big difference in his coat. Four weeks on, everyone is commenting on how well he looks, his coat is absolutely gleaming, but more than that, he seems to have got a new lease of life, he has a spring back in his step and looks like a million dollars, and everyone is asking to ride him. I cannot thank your company and Caroline enough, she is worth her weight on gold.

Although initially, people may think Lo Cal is expensive, you use such a small amount, that the bag will actually last more than twice as long as other hard feeds, so in real terms does not work out any more expensive, and yet the results are staggering.

E-mail from Fiona Johnson, Surrey, received September 2008.

I just wanted say how pleased I am that I fed Baileys Stud balancer to my mare once she was confirmed in foal. She bloomed all through the winter and everyone kept saying how fantastic she looked and asked what I was feeding her. My foal was born without any complications and has been sharing mum's feed, they both look healthy and shiny.

E-mail received from Dawn Woolham, Bolton. She had previously had a visit from our North East Feed Advisor, Caroline Dickens, for help on feeding her 2 ponies.

Just to saya big thank you for all your advice on feeding my ponies. Caroline came to see them, Ted looked so dull – his coat condition was nothing compared to what it does now. They have never looked so fantastic and as a result Maisie won and took Champion at Ponies UK in the Lee Smith Timberwolf 122 Show Hunter, plus she won the Timberwolf and got Reserve Champion. They’re both fed on Lo-Cal balancer and Outshine. That Outshine is wonderful – and I have tried them all. It makes them shine from inside out and I never do any brushing!

Emily (8 years old) rides Joop (the grey, Section A, 11.1hh, 5 years old)

Maisie (10 years old) rides Ted (the chesnut Section B, 12hh, 10 years old)

E-mail received from Liz Lukins, Glastonbury in July regarding the change to her horse Brad.

I just wanted to say what a great feed your No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes are. I bought Brad, an 11 year old TB, in February and he was not thin but had no topline at all. A friend suggested Baileys No.4 and the change in him is fantastic. I didn't think he would alter so quickly but he looks great and is still quiet enough to use for children to learn on. Thanks for such a great feed, he will certainly stay on Baileys and I recommend it to other people too!

Claire Lay sent Baileys' Nutritionist, Emma Case, this email in May 2008. She rang intially in September 2006, when she took on Gadget, then only 9 weeks old, after his mother died in an accident in the field. Emma recommended Baileys Foal Creep Pellets as they would be easy for him to digest and provide all the important nutrients he needed at this early stage in his life.

Hi Emma

I would just like to thank you & Baileys Horse Feeds for all your help and advice in feeding Gadget, my orphaned foal. He is now rising two and is winning every young stock class he has been entered in! He has several county shows lined up this summer and we can’t wait to see how he get on. I am so happy with how he has grown and developed on Baileys and will continue to use your feeds as they have done him so well. Should the next few months be as successful as the winter league showing, I hope to qualify Gadget for the Horse of the Year Show!

Thank you again for all your help and advice

Best Regards

Claire Lay

Letter received April 2008 from Angela Gladding, Wiltshire, regarding the improvements to her horse after following some feeding recommendations...

I am writing to say thank you for all the great feeding advice I have been given recently! I was finding it hard to get the right amount of energy into my horse without sending him over the edge as he can be quite highly strung. He is now being fed 8lbs (in 2 feeds) of No.9 All-Round Competition Mix a day, alongside 2 coffee mugs (1lb) of Stud Balancer. Since changing his feed to this he is so much more manageable and trainable. (Editor’s Note: Stud Balancer will top up nutrient levels in the diet if the recommended quantities are not being fed for whatever reason!)

I have had my gelding for just over a year; he is a rising 7, 18hh Dutch Warmblood called Liberacho Z whom I am currently competing at affiliated Medium level. I also have another horse, a mare, who is due to foal shortly. She is fed on your Stud Balancer with some chaff and is looking fantastic on it.

My aim is to compete my Warmblood at Grand Prix level and eventually internationally, plus breed my own Grand Prix horse with my mare and long-term to own a stud/dressage yard. A recent pay rise at work has allowed me to move both to a dressage yard where I am getting weekly training from the owner, plus regular lessons from Andrew Gould (who is a Baileys’ rider)! Thank you again for all the help you have given me with regards to feeding both of my horses.

An e-mail update from Laura Ferguson who contacted us last year regarding her horse Azrael who she has subsequently sold and bought a new 16.1hh, 5 year old bay gelding called Viletto.

Laura on Viletto'I have attached a photo of my novice horse Viletto. We have just returned from the Easter Show at Rowallan in Scotland. I had a super show with double clears in every class and some placings. He is naturally a good-doer and has a very calm and kind temperament. This mix doesn’t fizz him up and certainly helps him maintain his energy. He normally flags after the first class, but I feel that the All-Round Endurance Mix prolongs his energy levels – so a big thank you for inventing such a fantastic feed. Everybody commented on what a beautiful horse he is and what good condition he is in. They said I must be feeding him gold to look like he does! I said, "No, it’s called Baileys All-Round Endurance Mix!"

E-mail received from Alison Earp from Devon in January 2008 regarding her horse Razzle

I wanted to write and thank you - in particular the person I spoke to Emma (one of Baileys’ Nutritionists), for the advice she gave me on feeding my 27 year ‘young’ gelding, Razzle. I rang in September for some advice because I was concerned about the lack of weight he was holding on to - especially with the winter looming. The advice to up his roughage intake by introducing grass nuts to maintain his current concentrate but to add in Baileys Outshine has done wonders.

I now regularly get comments about how well Razzle looks and few can believe he is 27 this year. He has always been bright and perky but I now feel that he can really maintain being ridden 4 or 5 times a week without compromising the amount of weight he is carrying. So many thank yous for your expert and impartial nutrition advice!

Received in November 2007 from Sarah-Jane Sinnott in Co Cork, Southern Ireland, regarding her Connemara Stallion, Reuben

I absolutely adore Baileys feeds. Their quality is second to none – you’d nearly eat the mixes yourself - and there is no comparison to what’s on the market here in Southern Ireland. During the showing season I fed No.17 Top Line Conditioning Mix to my 6 year old Connemara Stallion, Gleann Rua Native (or Reuben for short) who won the ridden stallion class at the famous Clifden Connemara Pony Show and then went on to stand as Reserve Ridden Champion. Reuben is incredibly athletic and active and therefore he is not what you would call a ‘good doer’ (which is why he’s on No.17) - it just gives him that extra - without the edge. Now that the showing season has finished he is being feed Stud Balancer and the Economy Mix Plus. He is fussy and I have had huge problems with him in the past when I used other brands. However now he awaits eagerly for his feeds and always leaves the feed trough sparkling !!!

My other gelding is 15 years, Blue (Glensheen Finn) - see photo left - and is what you would call an EXTREMELY good doer. He would get fat just dreaming about grass . He is fed on Lo-cal and always looks absolutely fantastic. It keeps his coat and his feet in super condition.

Being based in West Cork I do not have direct access to a supply of Baileys feed. The supplier is a good drive away so I just have to organise myself, but it’s worth it for the difference it makes!

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Judy Maxwell for all her help - she is always at the end of the phone or email with her invaluable advice. It was thanks to her that I was introduced to Baileys feeds and Lynn Russell during a seminar that was organised some years ago in West Cork.

As they say - there is no looking back now - onwards and upwards !!!!

Received in September 2007 from Rose Ball in Bristol regarding her 19 year old, 14.3hh horse Llangattock Ryefield Express (or Callan for short).

Just to say that I started feeding Lo-Cal to my Welsh cob in November and the improvement in hoof growth is amazing. The time before last when he was shod there were bits of hoof going everywhere but this time there was hoof to cut off and it didn't flake into pieces.

This has particular significance as I'm married to the farrier and he was much happier!

E-mail from Claire Moore -Received in August 2007 regarding some helpful advice she had received. Her pony, La Bamba, pictured, is now on Baileys No.8 Meadow Sweet with honey.

I would like to express my thanks to your Equine Nutritionist, Elizabeth Bush. In January 2006 my beloved pony was unfortunately returned to me from loan in a poor and upsetting condition. I was in need of urgent expert advice and I contacted another well known feed company who failed to reply (still nothing!). I emailed Baileys and recieved an impressive, prompt and very helpful reply from Elizabeth. She understood my concern for a pony both my sister and I have grown up on and successfully competed, before moving onto competition horses and he was then loaned to children to enjoy. Elizabeth remained at my needs for a period of time, helping me get through the stages of my pony returning to a good condition.

Approximately 2/3 months later he was back to his healthy sparkling self with a lovely glossy coat! He has spent the last year with another young girl (at home!) who is now ready to do more; RC teams, etc so I contacted Elizabeth once again for advice to revise the feeding plan now that he is going on to do more work again and I got yet another very prompt and informative reply. I have owned my pony since he was a 5yo and he is now a 21yo, which is impossible to believe as he looks fantastic!

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you and praise you for a fantastic customer service. I now feed only Baileys and I wouldn't look back.

Baileys, you're the best!!

Kind Regards, Claire Moore.

E-mail from Joanne Smales
Received from Joanne Smales from East Yorkshire iin July 2007,regarding her 7 year old TB ‘Bailey’ (a fantastic name!!), who was struggling to regain weight after an illness.

I wanted to e-mail to tell you how pleased I am with the results from feeding your feed to my horse Bailey. Bailey is a 7 year old Thoroughbred and is a very sensitive but loving character. Ever since Christmas Bailey struggled to keep weight on, his hair didn't grow back after being clipped and generally he didn't seem very happy. I had tried different feeds and the vet had investigated everything we could think of!

In April I brought Bailey in one day and he was very ill. After spending a week at the vets he was finally diagnosed with a stomach ulcer. The vet recommended a nutritionist (our North East representative Jen Baxter) from Baileys Horse Feeds to help me decide what to feed him. With some medication and specialist feeding Bailey has successfully recovered.

He is now on Baileys Stud Balancer and Outshine and is doing better than ever!! He is going from strength to strength and I am so pleased! We have recently competed successfully at some unaffiliated dressage and his jumping is progressing well!

The picture (left) show Bailey just before he was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer in April 07 (top) and then three months later in July (bottom).

I want to say a big thankyou for the help I received from Baileys Horse Feeds and I will continue to use your products.

Received from Alison Mackintosh in July 2007,regarding her 10 year old good-doer, Murphy, a 14.1hh Welsh Section C x Highland x TB, whose weight is controlled on Baileys Lo-Cal.

I just wanted to contact you to say that I am absolutely delighted with a particular feed in your range. I get your newsletter several times a year (Winning Ways) and find it very informative and interesting. I decided to follow some advice from the newsletter and from an ad in Your Horse magazine regarding Lo cal balancer.

My pony is an extremely good doer who lives in a starvation paddock but is fussy with hay and most food stuffs. He won't eat Blue Chip or the Dodson and Horrell equivalent so I was nervous about buying your balancer in case he didn't like it. However, he (Murphy) adores it! Even on starvation rations, if he does not like something he just won't eat it and every feed I have ever given him has only ever been half eaten, whether he has worked or if it was a balancer. With Lo-Cal he licks his bucket so clean it is amazing. Most feeds also seem to hot him up and make him a bit too lively, but with this one he is absolutely fine and his behaviour has actually improved and he is not bad tempered like he normally is on his yearly diet.

I just want to say a huge thank you to Baileys for designing such a useful feed for fat ponies everywhere!

E-mail from Lynnette Homersham
Received from Lynette Homersham in May 2007, regarding the improvement to her horse Bug, whose condition improved dramatically on Baileys Endurance Mix and Outshine.

Hi guys at Baileys
I just wanted to send you some before and after pics of my big boy Bug. Only about 2 months ago I phoned you for advice after Bug had lost an enormous amount of condition in someone else’s “care”. I bought him home and phoned you in a panic.

Well, the results speak for themselves. And this is only with minimum work – now he’s on the mend he’s being ridden more and more and his muscle tone is developing nicely. Bug has stringhalt/shivers and the symptoms have all but disappeared.

I just wanted to say a huge, huge thank you for your thorough, professional, friendly (not to mention free!) advice. I have now sold Bug and he is going off to his new home continuing his maintenance diet as he goes into harder work.

I have recommended you to so many people and will most definitely only use Baileys feeds in the future.

E-mail from Karen Woodage
Received from Karen Woodage in April 2007, regarding the improvement to her horse Apollo, who has flourished on Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes.

I have always struggled to keep weight on Apollo ever since I have had him. I rescued him from a horse market. If I hadn't taken him home he would of gone for meat (he was 6 years old at the time) and I will have had him 5 years this July. The first photo shows him ‘before’ I was feeding Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes (about 7 weeks ago) and the second is him ‘after’ being on the cubes, taken on 15th April 07 – he looks so much better!

I have tried all the other makes of feed from the £10 sack of feed to the £35 sack of feed. Not one of them has made Apollo look so good as Baileys has done. He’s also a lot calmer which is great as he now is so much easier to ride, even my 13 an 14 year old daughters like to ride him. I have now started to feed all my other horses Baileys and I will be recommending it to all of my friends.

So thank you all at Baileys for making a feed that actually does what it says on the bag. I will never need another make of feed. Thanks again.

Dressage Crusader
Joanna emailed in January to tell us about her success in the dressage arena......

Joanna and 'Morac' Joanna Brooke, from Selby in Yorkshire, bought her Hannovarian x Friesian gelding, Imperial Crusader, as a two year old after she went to look at other youngsters and he got into the schooling area with them. "He wasn’t for sale but he moved with such elegance and I knew I had to have him," Joanna told us. "Luckily I managed to persuade the owners to let me buy him!" Imperial Crusader (or Morac to his friends) started out in the show ring as a four year old but he was 'too light' for a hunter and 'too big' for a riding horse so Joanna decided to try a few unaffiliated dressage competitons and, being successsfull affiliated him with British Dressage (BD) at the end of 2004. Since then they have been working their way up through the levels and last year Joanna and Morac competed 16 times with fantastic results; 11 wins and 4 seconds, at Novice and Elementary, and a very respectable 5th place at the Winter Championships, in the Restricted Novice Championship! They have recently qualified at Elementary for the 2007 Winter Championships, held at Solihull on 11 -15 April, currently have over 130 BD points and are working towards Medium level. "I am really looking forward to going to the “Winters” again," comments Joanna, "and would love a good result as it makes all the 5.30am starts worth it! Morac is very laid back so I feed him Baileys No. 9 All-Round Competition Mix as it gives him the sparkle he needs without fizzing him up and has vitamins and mineral levels to support the hard work of training and competing. As you can see he also looks great on it!’ Baileys are sponsoring the Novice Freestyle Championships, held at the Winter Championships, for the fourth year and we will keep our eye out to see how Joanna gets on and let you know! E-mail from Felicity Elder

Received from Felicity Elder in January 2007, regarding her horse Fishy who has flourished on Baileys No.17 Top Line Conditioning Mix.

I wish to thank you for the advice you gave me just over a year ago now on feeding my under weight 16.3 TB gelding. He is doing brilliantly on the diet you recommended and is looking superb. I had tried everything but he was looking really bad and him being a wind sucker didn't help matters as often the post seemed more inviting than his dinner! But your Top Line Conditioning Mix along with alfa and sugarbeet has got him really enjoying his food and licking the bucket clean. Again I wish to say thank you - my Fishy is now a changed horse.

E-mail from Dawn Jennings

Received from Dawn Jennings, based in Nottinghamshire, in December 2006, regarding her horse Mo who is convinced Baileys Top Line Conditioning Mix is quite simply the best!

I just want to say how pleased I am with your No.17 Top Line Conditioning Mix. I recently moved my 17.2 CB X TB from a Saracen’s mix to this one. To be honest the change in his topline is absolutely amazing!! I struggled to keep weight on him and getting his topline seemed unacheivable... but now I take it all back – it’s fantastic!! I feed him a mixture of No.17, Hi-fi Original, Speedybeet with soya and cod liver oil and carrots. Oh and not forgetting the Garlic which he loves!!! Thank you Baileys for showing me there is good reason to try the best because it quite simply is!!!!!!!

E-mail from Marie Lehtimaki

Received October 2006, after she won a prize for completing the FEI 2* 80km (endurance) ride at Builth Wells on her Arab gelding.

Just a quick email to thank you for the feed voucher. My arab gelding had been fed successfully a balancer and unmolassed sugar beet all year for rides up to 65km (40 miles) but I found that this wasn't enough for him when we completed our first 80km (50 miles) ride. As he had lost quite a bit of weight, I introduced Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes to address this, and two weeks before the Red Dragon, started him on Baileys No.6 All-Round Endurance Mix, cutting out the cubes three days before the ride. He thrived on this diet and his recovery times were fantastic. He is now back on No.4 (Top Line Conditioning Cubes) to get his weight back up for the winter. Once again, thank you.

E-mail from Linda Dykes

Received September 2006, requesting feed advice for her 15.2hh, 7 year old sorel American Quarter horse, One Hot Yo Yo (or Jack for short).

We recommended using Baileys Lo-Cal balancer, (to provide vitamins, minerals and quality protein) plus Outshine for that little bit of extra stamina and shine. Several months ago you very kindly advised me on a feeding regime for Jack. Well here he is (that's not me up top, but my friend Ali, who did most of his English training. She works for Bruce Lawrence our western trainer, and it was her first go at showing western. The picture was taken just before the Novice Horse pleasure class at the Western Equestrian Society championships which was our first show. Nothing like going in the deep end!

I'm pleased to report Jack is looking - and performing - incredibly well on Lo Cal balancer plus his Outshine. He usually gets half a cup of Outshine and two of Lo Cal whenever ridden (5 times a week, usually) and when we were away for a week training, prior to the show, obviously he was fed twice that and a bit more, as he was working hard... and just as you advised he got some more Outshine at lunch time to top the energy tank up before the afternoon. Worked a treat.

He has the best coat of any horses at the yard - sleek and shiny - lots of people comment on how shiny he looks. His muscle definition is good too. How much is work and how much is feed I don't know but he looks well on it all - lots of people asked what he was getting fed! I'd really like to thank you for offering such a great service where ordinary horse owners like me can get expert advice
