I just thought I would write to say thanks for the difference that your product Outshine has made to my pony.

Email from Sallie Dudley, East Sussex, telling us of her recent show sucess!

Just wanted to let you know that your products continue to do the business for me and my girls!
I took my yearling, Sheer Bliss, to the Futurity at Plumpton College in July - she has been on Baileys Stud Balancer since she was born. We achieved a 1st Premium for Endurance and a 2nd Premium for Eventing, which really thrilled me. She has been bred specifically for Endurance, and it still makes me grin when I think about the result. It is really nice to know that other people think that you've got it right!
I took Bliss's mother, Pharach Samantha, to the SE Arab Summer Show at Hickstead at the weekend. She has been on Baileys ever since I got her back in 1998 as a 10 year old. She is now 21, and we won the Ridden Veteran trophy and came 4th in Small Riding Horse. Neither of the Judges thought she looked her age, and considering the thousands of competative endurance miles she has on the clock, plus the 3 foals she has bred, at least some of the credit has to go to her nutrionist - so thanks Emma!
I wish I could report some success with Kiwi, Sam's 7 year old daughter. Unfortunately, she is lame - but she still looks in great condition, well, actually, the vet said she is in 'show condition' but what can you do? All she gets is 3 mugs of Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer a day and poor grazing - talk about a good doer!
So, thank you - you make the whole thing a lot easier.
Email from Heidi Harris from Nottinghamshire, who is very impressed with how her horses are alll now looking in fantastic condition after feeding Baileys Lo-Cal, without the fizz......

I would just like to say how pleased I am with your Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer. I have three mares on it at the moment and the difference in them is fantastic! The Chestnut in the Picture is an ex-racer, and I have always had problems keeping weight on her and not fizz her up, I decided this summer to try her on Lo-Cal as she also suffers with Azotoria, and my other mares were looking fantastic on it, the diference has been amazing, she is more round and toned and her attitude is very calm and is a dream to ride and with no more attacks of Azotoria! So all I would like to say is Thank you for creating such a great product!
Email from Samantha Osbourne regarding the transformation of her horse Traemarr Seattle after being fed Baileys Outshine..

I am writing to inform you about the success I have had with your products. In December 2008 I purchased a four year old three quarter thoroughbred, one quarter Arab. He had not long been broken, his coat was dull and he had no top line so I decided to put him on to Baileys Outshine alongside a feed balancer.
After only a few weeks I started to notice a change in his appearance with his coat looking shinier. Alongside intensive schooling work and strapping, I have built him up to the ideal show weight he is today. When using other conditioning products in the past, I have found some feeds allow a horse to put on weight but do not contain the levels of oil which I think are essential for a glowing show ring coat. I have also found that other feeds require a high volume of food to be fed to maintain condition, whereas, with Outshine I have only needed to use a few cup fulls to see huge results.
The picture taken in May 2009 shows my horse winning and qualifying for the Royal London and Equifest Championships at his first ever ridden show as a Large Show Hack. Not only has your product allowed me to put condition on my horse fast but also the product did not fizz him up at all; this was obviously a concern with him being a show animal, 4 years old and a part bred Arab! I am now looking forward to contesting the HOYS, Cherif and Royal London hack and part bred Arab classes!
Update from Samantha-Pictures below of The Royal London Show 2009

E-mail from Ireland based Tracey Carroll regarding her rescued horse Zahara, who was delighted with the transformation Baileys made to her mare.
I am writing to give you the biggest compliment I can. Your feed has changed my and the life of my rescued mare. Just over a year ago I saw the saddest sight ever - a two year old horse starving in a field, close to death. I took all my savings out of the bank and a week later she was dropped off at the yard. She was in such a state that the Vet who looked at her thought she would never be able to be ridden.
Email from Alexandra Sinton regarding her horse Wildstar Bewes who recently qualified and competed at the Novice Freestyle Dressage Championships at Hartpury College.

I have been feeding Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes to Larry-Wildstar Bewes, for the last 8 months, since winning some Vouchers at the BE Intro Championships last year and speaking to your feed advisors. At the time I had just bought a hot headed, stressy 5 year old with no muscle tone or definition, it was like riding 16.3hh barrel of adrenaline, I had no idea what to feed him.
I was recommended No.4 straight away, and I have to say it does exactly what it says on the packaging! Through the winter he has kept his head, and I've stayed on. he has muscled up and grown into himself properly and he has the most amazing shiny coat and supple skin and to top it off we've qualified for the Freestyle and Novice Restricted Winter Championships, where I came 12th which I am over the moon with!
E-mail from Lisa Penfold, East Sussex, regarding the improvements to her horse Syrus from Baileys Lo-Cal as can be seen from the transformation seen over just 5 months in the photos below.

Email from Heather Baker from Owl End Highland Ponies regarding her two Highland Stallions- who are both looking fantastic…..
Her are two pictures of my Highland Pony Stallions Moss-Side Orchull Laddie and Moss-Side Pearson, both fed on Baileys Stud Balancer and Baileys Outshine, we are so pleased with what your products have helped us produce!

Moss-Side Laddie is a 4 year old yellow dun, who started his Showing career last October, where he won all his classes and then went on to be Champion of the whole show! Since then he has gone on to qualify for Ponies (

Moss-Side Pearson is a black 3 year old Colt, who is in the process of being licensed, Pearson is yet to start his Showing career, and will hopefully do some small shows over the next couple of months, aiming for the Royal Highland Show at the End of June.
I am 14 years old and he is 8. He is a dappled palomino 15.3hh, I have only had him for a year and he was quite underweight and didn't have much muscle tone. I have been feeding him Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes and Outshine and he now looks fabulous.
Just thought I would drop you a line regarding veteran feeding. We have been using your No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes to feed our veteran (ex-racehorse) show horse for a while now and think it is wonderful. We were interviewed for Showing World magazine in July for their feature on Veteran feeding and we added the use of your products in the article.
A while ago I spoke to you on the phone about changing my horse’s feed to Baileys and you kindly printed out everything I needed to know about the quantities. I just wanted to say how much my horse loves Baileys and the differences it has made to him. I use to put sliced apples in to encourage him to eat and now he pushes them out to get to his feed!
Received September 2008, after a visit from Caroline Dickens, Baileys’ feed advisor for the north west
I just wanted to say a big thank you to your company and to Caroline who came out to give a talk to our livery yard about a month ago. I have always had horses and thought that I knew what, and how much, feed to give. After listening to Caroline I realised that this was not the case. After Caroline had spoken to the group she then looked at each of our horses and advised what feeding regime they might benefit from.
I was a bit sceptical at first as my horse is 21 and I have had him since he was 2, and therefore thought I knew what was best for him. Caroline suggested that he was switched on to Lo Cal Balancer, as she thought he was not getting enough protein in his diet. I duly bought the Lo Cal balancer and within 2 weeks noticed a big difference in his coat. Four weeks on, everyone is commenting on how well he looks, his coat is absolutely gleaming, but more than that, he seems to have got a new lease of life, he has a spring back in his step and looks like a million dollars, and everyone is asking to ride him. I cannot thank your company and Caroline enough, she is worth her weight on gold.
Although initially, people may think Lo Cal is expensive, you use such a small amount, that the bag will actually last more than twice as long as other hard feeds, so in real terms does not work out any more expensive, and yet the results are staggering.
I just wanted say how pleased I am that I fed Baileys Stud balancer to my mare once she was confirmed in foal. She bloomed all through the winter and everyone kept saying how fantastic she looked and asked what I was feeding her. My foal was born without any complications and has been sharing mum's feed, they both look healthy and shiny.
Just to saya big thank you for all your advice on feeding my ponies. Caroline came to see them, Ted looked so dull – his coat condition was nothing compared to what it does now. They have never looked so fantastic and as a result Maisie won and took Champion at Ponies UK in the Lee Smith Timberwolf 122 Show Hunter, plus she won the Timberwolf and got Reserve Champion. They’re both fed on Lo-Cal balancer and Outshine. That Outshine is wonderful – and I have tried them all. It makes them shine from inside out and I never do any brushing!
Emily (8 years old) rides Joop (the grey, Section A, 11.1hh, 5 years old)
Maisie (10 years old) rides Ted (the chesnut Section B, 12hh, 10 years old)
I just wanted to say what a great feed your No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes are. I bought Brad, an 11 year old TB, in February and he was not thin but had no topline at all. A friend suggested Baileys No.4 and the change in him is fantastic. I didn't think he would alter so quickly but he looks great and is still quiet enough to use for children to learn on. Thanks for such a great feed, he will certainly stay on Baileys and I recommend it to other people too!
Hi Emma
I would just like to thank you & Baileys Horse Feeds for all your help and advice in feeding Gadget, my orphaned foal. He is now rising two and is winning every young stock class he has been entered in! He has several county shows lined up this summer and we can’t wait to see how he get on. I am so happy with how he has grown and developed on Baileys and will continue to use your feeds as they have done him so well. Should the next few months be as successful as the winter league showing, I hope to qualify Gadget for the Horse of the Year Show!
Thank you again for all your help and adviceBest Regards
Claire Lay
I am writing to say thank you for all the great feeding advice I have been given recently! I was finding it hard to get the right amount of energy into my horse without sending him over the edge as he can be quite highly strung. He is now being fed 8lbs (in 2 feeds) of No.9 All-Round Competition Mix a day, alongside 2 coffee mugs (1lb) of Stud Balancer. Since changing his feed to this he is so much more manageable and trainable. (Editor’s Note: Stud Balancer will top up nutrient levels in the diet if the recommended quantities are not being fed for whatever reason!)
I have had my gelding for just over a year; he is a rising 7, 18hh Dutch Warmblood called Liberacho Z whom I am currently competing at affiliated Medium level. I also have another horse, a mare, who is due to foal shortly. She is fed on your Stud Balancer with some chaff and is looking fantastic on it.
My aim is to compete my Warmblood at Grand Prix level and eventually internationally, plus breed my own Grand Prix horse with my mare and long-term to own a stud/dressage yard. A recent pay rise at work has allowed me to move both to a dressage yard where I am getting weekly training from the owner, plus regular lessons from Andrew Gould (who is a Baileys’ rider)! Thank you again for all the help you have given me with regards to feeding both of my horses.
Laura on Viletto'I have attached a photo of my novice horse Viletto. We have just returned from the Easter Show at Rowallan in Scotland. I had a super show with double clears in every class and some placings. He is naturally a good-doer and has a very calm and kind temperament. This mix doesn’t fizz him up and certainly helps him maintain his energy. He normally flags after the first class, but I feel that the All-Round Endurance Mix prolongs his energy levels – so a big thank you for inventing such a fantastic feed. Everybody commented on what a beautiful horse he is and what good condition he is in. They said I must be feeding him gold to look like he does! I said, "No, it’s called Baileys All-Round Endurance Mix!"
I wanted to write and thank you - in particular the person I spoke to Emma (one of Baileys’ Nutritionists), for the advice she gave me on feeding my 27 year ‘young’ gelding, Razzle. I rang in September for some advice because I was concerned about the lack of weight he was holding on to - especially with the winter looming. The advice to up his roughage intake by introducing grass nuts to maintain his current concentrate but to add in Baileys Outshine has done wonders.
I now regularly get comments about how well Razzle looks and few can believe he is 27 this year. He has always been bright and perky but I now feel that he can really maintain being ridden 4 or 5 times a week without compromising the amount of weight he is carrying. So many thank yous for your expert and impartial nutrition advice!
I absolutely adore Baileys feeds. Their quality is second to none – you’d nearly eat the mixes yourself - and there is no comparison to what’s on the market here in Southern Ireland. During the showing season I fed No.17 Top Line Conditioning Mix to my 6 year old Connemara Stallion, Gleann Rua Native (or Reuben for short) who won the ridden stallion class at the famous Clifden Connemara Pony Show and then went on to stand as Reserve Ridden Champion. Reuben is incredibly athletic and active and therefore he is not what you would call a ‘good doer’ (which is why he’s on No.17) - it just gives him that extra - without the edge. Now that the showing season has finished he is being feed Stud Balancer and the Economy Mix Plus. He is fussy and I have had huge problems with him in the past when I used other brands. However now he awaits eagerly for his feeds and always leaves the feed trough sparkling !!!
My other gelding is 15 years, Blue (Glensheen Finn) - see photo left - and is what you would call an EXTREMELY good doer. He would get fat just dreaming about grass . He is fed on Lo-cal and always looks absolutely fantastic. It keeps his coat and his feet in super condition.
Being based in West Cork I do not have direct access to a supply of Baileys feed. The supplier is a good drive away so I just have to organise myself, but it’s worth it for the difference it makes!
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Judy Maxwell for all her help - she is always at the end of the phone or email with her invaluable advice. It was thanks to her that I was introduced to Baileys feeds and Lynn Russell during a seminar that was organised some years ago in West Cork.
As they say - there is no looking back now - onwards and upwards !!!!
Just to say that I started feeding Lo-Cal to my Welsh cob in November and the improvement in hoof growth is amazing. The time before last when he was shod there were bits of hoof going everywhere but this time there was hoof to cut off and it didn't flake into pieces.
This has particular significance as I'm married to the farrier and he was much happier!

I would like to express my thanks to your Equine Nutritionist, Elizabeth Bush. In January 2006 my beloved pony was unfortunately returned to me from loan in a poor and upsetting condition. I was in need of urgent expert advice and I contacted another well known feed company who failed to reply (still nothing!). I emailed Baileys and recieved an impressive, prompt and very helpful reply from Elizabeth. She understood my concern for a pony both my sister and I have grown up on and successfully competed, before moving onto competition horses and he was then loaned to children to enjoy. Elizabeth remained at my needs for a period of time, helping me get through the stages of my pony returning to a good condition.
Approximately 2/3 months later he was back to his healthy sparkling self with a lovely glossy coat! He has spent the last year with another young girl (at home!) who is now ready to do more; RC teams, etc so I contacted Elizabeth once again for advice to revise the feeding plan now that he is going on to do more work again and I got yet another very prompt and informative reply. I have owned my pony since he was a 5yo and he is now a 21yo, which is impossible to believe as he looks fantastic!
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you and praise you for a fantastic customer service. I now feed only Baileys and I wouldn't look back.
Baileys, you're the best!!
Kind Regards, Claire Moore.
I wanted to e-mail to tell you how pleased I am with the results from feeding your feed to my horse Bailey. Bailey is a 7 year old Thoroughbred and is a very sensitive but loving character. Ever since Christmas Bailey struggled to keep weight on, his hair didn't grow back after being clipped and generally he didn't seem very happy. I had tried different feeds and the vet had investigated everything we could think of!
In April I brought Bailey in one day and he was very ill. After spending a week at the vets he was finally diagnosed with a stomach ulcer. The vet recommended a nutritionist (our North East representative Jen Baxter) from Baileys Horse Feeds to help me decide what to feed him. With some medication and specialist feeding Bailey has successfully recovered.
He is now on Baileys Stud Balancer and Outshine and is doing better than ever!! He is going from strength to strength and I am so pleased! We have recently competed successfully at some unaffiliated dressage and his jumping is progressing well!
The picture (left) show Bailey just before he was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer in April 07 (top) and then three months later in July (bottom).
I want to say a big thankyou for the help I received from Baileys Horse Feeds and I will continue to use your products.
I just wanted to contact you to say that I am absolutely delighted with a particular feed in your range. I get your newsletter several times a year (Winning Ways) and find it very informative and interesting. I decided to follow some advice from the newsletter and from an ad in Your Horse magazine regarding Lo cal balancer.
My pony is an extremely good doer who lives in a starvation paddock but is fussy with hay and most food stuffs. He won't eat Blue Chip or the Dodson and Horrell equivalent so I was nervous about buying your balancer in case he didn't like it. However, he (Murphy) adores it! Even on starvation rations, if he does not like something he just won't eat it and every feed I have ever given him has only ever been half eaten, whether he has worked or if it was a balancer. With Lo-Cal he licks his bucket so clean it is amazing. Most feeds also seem to hot him up and make him a bit too lively, but with this one he is absolutely fine and his behaviour has actually improved and he is not bad tempered like he normally is on his yearly diet.
I just want to say a huge thank you to Baileys for designing such a useful feed for fat ponies everywhere!
Received from Lynette Homersham in May 2007, regarding the improvement to her horse Bug, whose condition improved dramatically on Baileys Endurance Mix and Outshine. Well, the results speak for themselves. And this is only with minimum work – now he’s on the mend he’s being ridden more and more and his muscle tone is developing nicely. Bug has stringhalt/shivers and the symptoms have all but disappeared.
I just wanted to say a huge, huge thank you for your thorough, professional, friendly (not to mention free!) advice. I have now sold Bug and he is going off to his new home continuing his maintenance diet as he goes into harder work.
I have recommended you to so many people and will most definitely only use Baileys feeds in the future.
I have always struggled to keep weight on Apollo ever since I have had him. I rescued him from a horse market. If I hadn't taken him home he would of gone for meat (he was 6 years old at the time) and I will have had him 5 years this July. The first photo shows him ‘before’ I was feeding Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes (about 7 weeks ago) and the second is him ‘after’ being on the cubes, taken on 15th April 07 – he looks so much better!
I have tried all the other makes of feed from the £10 sack of feed to the £35 sack of feed. Not one of them has made Apollo look so good as Baileys has done. He’s also a lot calmer which is great as he now is so much easier to ride, even my 13 an 14 year old daughters like to ride him. I have now started to feed all my other horses Baileys and I will be recommending it to all of my friends.
So thank you all at Baileys for making a feed that actually does what it says on the bag. I will never need another make of feed. Thanks again.
Joanna and 'Morac' Joanna Brooke, from Selby in Yorkshire, bought her Hannovarian x Friesian gelding, Imperial Crusader, as a two year old after she went to look at other youngsters and he got into the schooling area with them. "He wasn’t for sale but he moved with such elegance and I knew I had to have him," Joanna told us. "Luckily I managed to persuade the owners to let me buy him!" Imperial Crusader (or Morac to his friends) started out in the show ring as a four year old but he was 'too light' for a hunter and 'too big' for a riding horse so Joanna decided to try a few unaffiliated dressage competitons and, being successsfull affiliated him with British Dressage (BD) at the end of 2004. Since then they have been working their way up through the levels and last year Joanna and Morac competed 16 times with fantastic results; 11 wins and 4 seconds, at Novice and Elementary, and a very respectable 5th place at the Winter Championships, in the Restricted Novice Championship! They have recently qualified at Elementary for the 2007 Winter Championships, held at Solihull on 11 -15 April, currently have over 130 BD points and are working towards Medium level. "I am really looking forward to going to the “Winters” again," comments Joanna, "and would love a good result as it makes all the 5.30am starts worth it! Morac is very laid back so I feed him Baileys No. 9 All-Round Competition Mix as it gives him the sparkle he needs without fizzing him up and has vitamins and mineral levels to support the hard work of training and competing. As you can see he also looks great on it!’ Baileys are sponsoring the Novice Freestyle Championships, held at the Winter Championships, for the fourth year and we will keep our eye out to see how Joanna gets on and let you know! For more information about the British Dressage Winter Championships visit www.britishdressage.co.uk
Received from Felicity Elder in January 2007, regarding her horse Fishy who has flourished on Baileys No.17 Top Line Conditioning Mix.
I wish to thank you for the advice you gave me just over a year ago now on feeding my under weight 16.3 TB gelding. He is doing brilliantly on the diet you recommended and is looking superb. I had tried everything but he was looking really bad and him being a wind sucker didn't help matters as often the post seemed more inviting than his dinner! But your Top Line Conditioning Mix along with alfa and sugarbeet has got him really enjoying his food and licking the bucket clean. Again I wish to say thank you - my Fishy is now a changed horse.
Received from Dawn Jennings, based in Nottinghamshire, in December 2006, regarding her horse Mo who is convinced Baileys Top Line Conditioning Mix is quite simply the best!
I just want to say how pleased I am with your No.17 Top Line Conditioning Mix. I recently moved my 17.2 CB X TB from a Saracen’s mix to this one. To be honest the change in his topline is absolutely amazing!! I struggled to keep weight on him and getting his topline seemed unacheivable... but now I take it all back – it’s fantastic!! I feed him a mixture of No.17, Hi-fi Original, Speedybeet with soya and cod liver oil and carrots. Oh and not forgetting the Garlic which he loves!!! Thank you Baileys for showing me there is good reason to try the best because it quite simply is!!!!!!!
Received October 2006, after she won a prize for completing the FEI 2* 80km (endurance) ride at Builth Wells on her Arab gelding.
Just a quick email to thank you for the feed voucher. My arab gelding had been fed successfully a balancer and unmolassed sugar beet all year for rides up to 65km (40 miles) but I found that this wasn't enough for him when we completed our first 80km (50 miles) ride. As he had lost quite a bit of weight, I introduced Baileys No.4 Top Line Conditioning Cubes to address this, and two weeks before the Red Dragon, started him on Baileys No.6 All-Round Endurance Mix, cutting out the cubes three days before the ride. He thrived on this diet and his recovery times were fantastic. He is now back on No.4 (Top Line Conditioning Cubes) to get his weight back up for the winter. Once again, thank you.
Received September 2006, requesting feed advice for her 15.2hh, 7 year old sorel American Quarter horse, One Hot Yo Yo (or Jack for short).
We recommended using Baileys Lo-Cal balancer, (to provide vitamins, minerals and quality protein) plus Outshine for that little bit of extra stamina and shine. Several months ago you very kindly advised me on a feeding regime for Jack. Well here he is (that's not me up top, but my friend Ali, who did most of his English training. She works for Bruce Lawrence our western trainer, and it was her first go at showing western. The picture was taken just before the Novice Horse pleasure class at the Western Equestrian Society championships which was our first show. Nothing like going in the deep end!
I'm pleased to report Jack is looking - and performing - incredibly well on Lo Cal balancer plus his Outshine. He usually gets half a cup of Outshine and two of Lo Cal whenever ridden (5 times a week, usually) and when we were away for a week training, prior to the show, obviously he was fed twice that and a bit more, as he was working hard... and just as you advised he got some more Outshine at lunch time to top the energy tank up before the afternoon. Worked a treat.
He has the best coat of any horses at the yard - sleek and shiny - lots of people comment on how shiny he looks. His muscle definition is good too. How much is work and how much is feed I don't know but he looks well on it all - lots of people asked what he was getting fed! I'd really like to thank you for offering such a great service where ordinary horse owners like me can get expert advice
