Catriona Moon
Catriona Moon’s most embarrassing moment came when she got deposited in front of the owners of an Exmoor pony she was riding during a working hunter class at the breed show! Since then she has moved on a lot but still blames her parents for getting her into horses in the first place – although she says she couldn’t do without her mum!
Although now firmly settled in the world of Endurance, if she weren’t competing in long distance, Catriona would have taken on the challenge of competing in either show jumping or eventing and spent her Pony Club years competing against the likes of the younger Whitaker’s and Oliver Townend. She would always advocate getting an all round equestrian grounding to educate oneself as much as possible in all disciplines – and never forget that horses are not machines.
Although she is currently working hard getting her horses in shape for 2006, Catriona has longer term ambitions and would love to win at the World Championships or be crowned an Olympic Gold Medal winner, competing in the sport she loves the most. She is realistic however and knows there is a lot of hard work to put in to reach those goals. With her top support team (including her mum Jackie, who was a successful endurance rider herself) fit horses and good nutrition from Baileys, Catriona will be giving her all to achieve these goals!
Who would you invite to a fantasy dinner:
Paula Radcliffe (for her strength of character and determination whatever happens), Ellen MacArthur for the same reasons
Catriona is happy to try and offer support and advice to those training for endurance and can be contacted on tjapukai@aol.com
